Want to get a new PC? Here's the few factors you might want to think of:

Currently, the standard PC are usually at the size of 1920 x 1080. If its at a different resolution, you might experience your game / app having some blocked display
The important thing to look for is the Core. More core means better performance.
Thread is important too (for managing multiple apps), but usually a core can only have 2 thread, so you shouldn't need to look much into it.
For gaming, 4 cores is enough to play lots of games (assuming you set lower graphic settings)
*To check before you buy online, look for the processor name and search on Google, it'll tell you the spec on cores, threads, and GHz base
This affects performance like processor as well. With 16 GB, its good enough to play lots of games.
Fun Fact: RAM hardware are like a cartridge and they usually have 2 slots (E.g 8gb + 8gb makes 16gb)
Backlit Keyboard
Although this seemed unimportant, pretty sure there are some people who would be on their laptop with their lights off. If you're in the group, this is definitely needed.
Numpad Feature
This could be an important feature to some when write some math thing or for those who uses calculator a lot. Some PC doesn't have it.
If you're not a tech fanatic, just go with WIndows. But if your not, you can consider other kinds of OS to use.
Windows (used by most, comes with the user friendly features so that you don't need to set the tech savvy stuff)
Linux (used by those who would set their own rule and wanted more privacy)
MacOS (use by those who likes to multitask and opens many apps at the same time)
SSD (Solid State Drive) is faster but more expensive, while HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is slower but has more storage space than SSD
If you often transfer files to here and there, go for SSD.
